Deana Carter to headline 2015 Get Down Downtown

SEARCY, Ark. - Main Street Searcy and BHP Billiton are proud to announce Deana Carter as the main headliner for the 2015 Get Down Downtown festival, which will be held in historic downtown Searcy on September 25-26.

The festival will include various performances on two stages throughout Friday and Saturday leading up to Carter’s performance on the Ritter Communications Stage at 8pm on Saturday, September 26.

Carter is a multi Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and producer, known for her multi-platinum international album “Did I Shave My Legs For This?”, which debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. Top Country Albums chart and sold over five million copies. Her hit song “Strawberry Wine” reached number one on the U.S. Billboard “Hot Country Singles and Tracks.”

Former Searcy police chief accepts plea deal

SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) - Nearly six months after former Searcy Police Chief Jeremy Clark resigned from his position, he was sentenced by a judge to one year probation.

"I think everybody is ready to move on and I am certainly ready to put it behind me," said former Searcy Police Chief Jeremy Clark.

It's a story that's been in the headlines for nearly six months, and Monday it ended in federal court.

Clark explained, "Just gonna try and learn from it."

Clark admitted his guilt of illegally obtaining hydrocodone without a prescription. It took just 30 minutes for a judge to conduct the plea deal and sentencing.

Clark was ordered to serve one year probation, pay a $1,000 fine, be stripped of his law enforcement certification, and be banned from having any firearms for a year.

Police still searching for missing White Co. man

SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) -The Searcy Police Department is still asking for the public's help with locating a missing White County man.

David Steele, 43, of McRae has reportedly not been heard from since he was last seen at the Searcy Walmart Supercenter on July 29 leaving toward the east side of the store.

Several attempts have been made to contact Steele on his cell phone by the family as well as police.

If you have any information about Steele's whereabouts, you are asked to contact the Searcy Police Department at 501-207-5752.

American Red Cross supporting emergency shelter for Searcy storm victims

SEARCY, Ark. (August 5, 2015) - After a line of severe storms with damaging winds moved across the state Wednesday afternoon, blowing the roof off the Race Street Apartments off East Race Avenue, the American Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter in Searcy.

The shelter is located at 801 South Elm Street in Searcy at the Carmichael Community Center.

The Red Cross is providing cots, blankets and food. For personal comfort, persons coming to the shelter are encouraged to bring the following items as needed:

White Co. 14-year-old hospitalized after accidental shooting

SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) – White County authorities received a 911 call involving an accidental shooting involving a juvenile on Thursday morning.

Upon arrival to N. Vinity Road, White County deputies found a 14-year-old boy with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face. According to reports, the shooting is believed to be accidental.

The White County deputies and Garner First Responders assisted NorthStar EMS personnel with loading and transporting the victim to the Unity Health Medical Center in Searcy for treatment and stabilization. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
