How to find out about road conditions; it’s not by calling 911 | Business
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – With more winter weather in the forecast, many will soon want to know about road conditions. Here is a look at different ways you can learn about the current road conditions in your area:
Check out iDriveArkansas.com.
This site provides you with an interactive map that gives you a look at the route conditions on major highways in the state. You can zoom in to your particular city for a more detailed glimpse at what’s on the road. They’ve got a cool app, too.
Look at the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) Winter Weather Road Condition report.
This web site provides a list of road conditions on primary highways and routes. You can look at the list by county, route, or most recent update. That web page is here:http://on.kthv.com/1Wy9Q8l
Call your AHTD District Office.
Calling your district office, will get you information on conditions for non-primary highways. Find your district here: http://on.kthv.com/1Nn7eD1
Follow these Twitter handles and hashtags:
@AHTD – This will share information on road closings and re-openings
@THV11 – We will have a reporter out and about looking at road conditions in the Little Rock Metro
#ARTraffic – Provides updates on traffic issues and trouble spots
#ARWX – This will give you details on weather patterns and kind of precipitation is falling in the area
Download the THV11 app.
This will not provide road conditions, but the traffic section will provide information on traffic patterns on major roadways.
Please. Whatever you do, don’t call 911 for road conditions.
Those lines need to stay open for people in need of immediate help or assistance. Only call the service if you are having a real emergency.
