CABOT, Ark. (City of Cabot) - With the economy in a down turn, many people are not able to afford a Thanksgiving meal. The Cabot community wants everyone to be able to have a meal and come together as a family at the Fourth Annual Cabot Community Thanksgiving Feast. The organizers of the Fourth Annual Cabot Community Thanksgiving Feast are asking the Cabot community to come together to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for those that would not have a Thanksgiving meal. The organizers want people to realize that they don’t have to be alone and they don’t have to spend Thanksgiving without a meal or a place to go. The goals for the feast are to show the love of Christ, provide a relaxing, home-like atmosphere and a first-class Thanksgiving meal (Matthew 25:34-40).

The Cabot Community Thanksgiving Feast was put on the hearts of Heather Moore and her husband Dane Moore four years ago. “In 2009, we looked high and low for a place for our family to serve in the Cabot community during Thanksgiving.” Heather said. “We failed to find anywhere that our family could volunteer.” Her family, including their four kids, ended up serving in another town and Heather and Dane decided that they needed to start a community wide Thanksgiving ministry in Cabot.

“On Thanksgiving day, we invite the whole community to have a Thanksgiving meal with us” Dane said. “Last year, we served over 450 meals and we are expecting well over 500 this year.” Volunteers can cook a casserole or vegetable in their home and bring it at a specified time or they may want to actually serve at the event. If they cannot come to the feast, another way volunteers can help is through donating to the feast. “Heather and I do this feast every year with donations from our community” Dane said. “We have no funding or affiliation with any church or organization and donations are needed to make this Thanksgiving a success.”

This year donations have been slow to come and the directors are encouraging local businesses and individuals to help make this Thanksgiving feast a success. Businesses or individuals can volunteer or donate to the feast at www.cabotfeast.com or call Heather Moore at (501)259-3799.
