ASU-Beebe: ASU-Searcy Information Expo on July 21

BEEBE, Ark. – Arkansas State University-Searcy, a technical campus of ASU-Beebe, will host an ASU-Searcy Information Expo on Tuesday, July 21; Thursday, July 30; and Wednesday, August 5, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Main Building, Room 117 on the Searcy campus.   

Do you want a second chance at college, obtain your GED, or would you like to increase your earning potential? The ASU-Searcy Information Expo is an excellent opportunity to visit the Searcy campus, learn more about the programs offered, receive information on earning a high school diploma, or explore the funding options and available scholarships. A personal guide will be available to answer questions and assist with the admission process.

ASU-Searcy serves a range of students from high school, through the Regional Career Center or concurrent classes, to non-traditional students earning certificates or associate degrees.

Mayor David Morris of Searcy completes 40 years of public service

SEARCY, Ark. - Growing up in Searcy, Ark., Mayor David Morris witnessed firsthand the positive impact public service has on the community.  With his mother working for the University of Arkansas Corporative Extension Office for fifty-five years and a father that served in the U.S. Navy for eight years prior to becoming a postal worker retiring after forty-two years of service, he knew this was the direction his future was heading.  In addition his grandfather Harvey Morris served as Assessor for White County during the 1940’s.

Morris graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science degree and received a Master of Health Services Management and a Masters in Business, both from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - With the fourth of July fast approaching, it would be good to know where in central Arkansas you can light your fireworks.

Beebe's 4th of July Extravaganza

BEEBE, Ark. (KTHV) - Get ready for live entertainment, giant waterslides, free food and a firework display at the 4th of July Extravaganza in Beebe. 

On Saturday, July 4 the town of Beebe will hold its largest community event of the year. Festivities will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Beebe ballpark. Live entertainment including local artists 302 Main, Victoria Taylor, 90 Proof and the Luke Williams Band will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will also be three giant waterslides for all ages to enjoy during the celebration along with face paintings and temporary tattoos. 

Free ice cream, drinks and popcorn will be provided by the City of Beebe, and Beebe civic groups and churches will bring the food. 

To avoid the hassle of parking, there will be a shuttle service available from ASU-Beebe Owen center parking lot to the ballpark beginning at 4 p.m.

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Free summer movie event 'A Night Under the Stars' begins June 20. 

Teen Recruiters has teamed up with Swank Motion Pictures and local businesses to provide a free movie watching experience at Spring Park in downtown Heber Springs. 

The 2015 lineup includes:

Saturday, June 20- Spare Parts (PG-13)

Saturday, July 11- Paddington (PG)

Saturday, August 22 - Captain America The Winter Solider (PG-13)

Pre-movie events will begin at 7 p.m. and films will begin at dusk. 

Both the pre-movie events and the film showings are free and open for anyone to attend.
