Police: Man commits suicide, thieves steal his truck, gun

WHITE COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Authorities in White County have two people in custody for theft and abuse of a corpse.

"Originally what we were looking at looked like a homicide," says Corporal Steve Hernandez with White County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities say Efron Belfred shot and killed himself inside his truck just outside Judsonia, Sept. 22.  Authorities say Austin Flynn, 22, and Michael Hollingshead, 43, removed Belfred's body from inside the truck onto the dirt road and stole his truck and the gun he used to kill himself.

"He had told his wife the night before that he had been threatening it," says Corporal Hernandez.

Deputies say the incident happened at the intersection of Safley Road and Pruitt Drive near Judsonia in the Bald Knob National Wildlife Refuge.

"They ran out of gas and Arkansas Police found the vehicle with the two men in it," says Corporal Hernandez.

Both Flynn and Hollingshead are in custody. Deputies are looking for Levi Garette Flynn and Steven Earl Raymond for questioning in this case.  If you know of their whereabouts you are asked to call White County Sheriff's Department at (501) 279-6279.
