Searcy man charged after allegedly shooting grandmother | News
SEARCY, Ark. (KTHV) - A man in Searcy was charged with second degree battery after he allegedly shot his grandmother.
According to a release sent to THV11 by Cpl. Steve Hernandez with the Searcy Police Department, officers were called Monday morning around 8 to a home on Heffner St. for a reported suicide.
Police said that when officers arrived, they were told by a man that his grandmother had shot herself. During the investigation, police said it was determined that there was a struggle between the woman and her grandson, and she was shot.
The woman was taken to UAMS, police said, where she is being treated for a life-threatening injury.
According to the release, the woman's grandson, Grant Crawford, 24, is currently being held at the White County Law Enforcement Center on second degree battery with a bond of $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 4.
