Searcy Police names Officer of the Year

The Searcy Police Department held its annual holiday lunch and awards ceremony Thursday afternoon at the Lightle Center. Officer Allen Hoofman was chosen as the 2010 Officer of the Year.

Hoofman joined the Searcy Police Department in November of 2008. Hoofman is a Riverview High School graduate. He has earned Officer of the Month honors three times at the department. Hoofman has participated in numerous training classes and is part of the Searcy Police Department’s Bike Patrol. His favorite part about working as a police officer is the positive interaction with the community.

Sgt. Steve Hacker earned the Top Gun title for the third consecutive year. The Top Gun award is given to the officer with the highest score in the year’s firearms qualification shoots.

Lt. Roger Pearson and Sgt. Mike Jones received pins for 20 years of service.

The Searcy Police Department announced Todd Wells as the Officer of the Month for November.

Officer Wells has earned this honor three times in the past. Todd Wells has been an officer with the Searcy Police Department since July 2007. Officer Wells was chosen as the 2009 Officer of the Year for the Searcy Police Department. Officer Wells recently finished Firearms Instructor Training at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden, Ark. He joins five other Searcy Police Officers as a firearms instructor. He has also been involved with the Law Enforcement Torch Run that raises money and awareness for Special Olympics Arkansas.

Searcy’s Chief of Police, Kyle Osborne said, “Time after time, Officer Wells proves his place in this department through hard work and commitment. He deserves this honor.”
